Le Refuge de Rouffenac
Gites & Chambre d' hotes in the Aveyron South West France
The Aveyron and the surronding area is a land of contrasting natural beauty and picturesque unspoilt 13th century villages.
A must for visitors is a visit to some of the “Plus Beau Villages De France”, “The most beautiful villages in France”. This is a prestigious club of 139 villages which have been chosen for their character, heritage and the desire of the inhabitants to protect their uniqueness. The Aveyron has 9 of these villages which is more than any other department in France.
As Le Refuge is in a farming hamlet, during your stay, we can usualy arrange for you to visit one of the sheep farms and watch the sheep being milked or tour another farm and see the new born calves.
We can also arrange a siteseeing flight over the Aveyron to the new viaduct at Millau or the gorges of the Tarn and Doubie.
Just a short drive away from Le Refuge is Lake Pareloup which is the largest lake in southern France and also the lake at Villefranche de Panat. Here you will find beaches and many water based activities such as swimming, water skiing, fishing, windsurfing and kayaking.
Within easy reach of Le Refuge are the Gorges of the Tarn the Dourbie and Jonte and if you love cycling, rambling or just sightseeing in your car you will be surprised at how peaceful and unspoilt the area is
You can indulge in many sporting activities such as walking, canoeing, fishing, cycling, horse riding and tennis.
For the more adventures activities such as paragliding, abseiling and rock climbing or you can simply relax and take in the views from the terrace of our large swimming pool
